OUR HOTEL
Hotel & Wellness Zuiver
https://zuiveramsterdam.nl/en/
The main hotel and spa, where the front desk, breakfast, spa, and gym are located, has 30 two-bedded rooms reserved for our EuroTour athletes traveling with their mom. Out of these 30 rooms, 25 are now set for athletes and their mothers, while the remaining 5 rooms will accommodate 10 athletes, each sharing a room with another member athlete. These 10 athletes either have both parents on the trip or are accompanied by their single fathers.
Main Hotel: Room #'s 1-32
All of our programs will start in this main building and all of our group meetings will be held here as well.
Family members, coaches, and our staff will stay in the hotel’s "annex". The annex, a fairly new building separated by about 200 feet from the main facility, offers "superior" rooms with large individual beds (one bed per room). This annex has 39 rooms across three floors. The hotel does not allow three to a room.
Annex: Room #'s 56-311
Currently, we will occupy all rooms in the main building, as well as the first two floors in the annex.
The hotel itself is in a peaceful area along the Amsterdam/Amstelveen border, next to open space that leads directly to our club facility—a very convenient and pleasant location!

Planning Your Travel
Traveling from the USA:
For flights, you’re welcome to choose your preferred airline and departure airport—this is yours to arrange, secure, and purchase. Since summer is a popular travel season, we recommend booking sooner rather than later. Don't forget about your passport, your expiration date should extend 6 months past your return date. If you need a new or to renew a passport - best to do that now so you avoid wait times. PASSPORT APP HERE
To ensure you arrive in time, you’ll need to book your flight from the U.S. to depart no later than Wednesday July 23, 2025. Most flights departing the U.S. will arrive at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport early on the morning of Thursday July 24.
The official end of our scheduled program of planned events will be late evening on July 29 with hotel departure/check-out on Wednesday July 30.
Schiphol Airport Morning Arrival Thursday July 24:
11AM Option Bus to Hotel
Optional, for families arriving on the morning of July 24, we’ll have a private bus waiting at Schiphol to take us all to the hotel. This bus will leave at 11:00 AM.
If our bus timing doesn’t work for you, whether it’s too early or too late, no worries! Schiphol is well-connected, and taxis and Ubers are readily available. A ride to our hotel takes about 15 to 20 minutes.
It will take approximately 1 hour to clear immigration, collect your luggage and and get on the other side of customs into the main terminal. Starting at 10AM and ending at 11.AM we will have one of our staff in the terminal (location to be determined - and communicated) to help direct you to our bus.
Optional - Arrive Early or Depart Later:
If you’d like to arrive in Amsterdam early or extend your stay, you’re in good company! Several group members plan to stay later to participate in optional Dutch training on Wednesday July 30. We have rooms on hold for pre- and post-tour dates, and we’re awaiting the hotel’s instructions on how you can book these extra nights.
Please note that any additional nights will be booked directly with the hotel by each member, as the EuroTour office will not be handling pre- or post-arrival arrangements. Stay tuned for booking instructions!

Thursday July 24
11am AIRPORT TRANSFER
The bus for those who would like transportation from the airport to the hotel will depart at 11:00 AM sharp. In the spring, we'll send out a questionnaire, where you can confirm if you'd like to join this transfer.
OFFICIAL PROGRAM START:
11.30AM Light Lunch | 12.30PM Welcome Meeting
Once at the hotel, we’ll kick off with a light lunch at 11:30 AM for all our arriving travelers. This is when our program officially begins, so come and get ready to meet everyone. Followed by a member welcome meeting at 12.30PM
>> Please try your best to be at the hotel prior to 12.30pm
Room Access:
As with most hotels, room access typically begins between 3:00 and 4:00 PM. In previous years, we’ve found that some rooms do become available earlier, sometimes even by noon. All rooms are preassigned well in advance, so there will be a bit of “luck of the draw” in terms of which rooms are ready before we head out for our afternoon adventure.
For anyone wanting to freshen up before going out, the spa locker rooms will be available for changing and refreshing. We’ll hand out room keys as they become available, and for any remaining rooms, keys will be distributed after we return from dinner. Thank you for understanding—we’re here to make Day-1 as smooth as possible for everyone!
Now, Some Fun. Afternoon Sightseeing:
1:30 PM, we’ll board our bus again, this time for a sightseeing tour of the area. This first excursion is a fantastic way to get our bearings, take in some beautiful landmarks, and dive into the local culture. We’ll explore together, with plenty of time for photos and discovery.
If you’re running late or experience any travel delays, no worries! We’ll provide a few convenient meet-up spots and times so you can join us as soon as you’re able. And if meeting up in the afternoon doesn’t work out, you can reconnect with us at the hotel for our evening gathering.
By early evening, between 6:00 and 7:00 PM, we’ll head back to the hotel to freshen up, relax, or simply take a breather before our evening gathering.
Evening Group Meeting: Mandatory!
8:00 PM we’ll meet up again in the main hotel building for a group meeting where everyone can connect, ask questions, and get a preview of what lies ahead. This will be a relaxed and informal chance to unwind and get comfortable in our new surroundings.
9:00 to 9.30 PM we’ll wrap up so you can get a good night’s rest before training and our first full day together.
As always, while we aim to stick closely to this schedule, minor adjustments may be needed along the way. Life happens, and we’ll handle any issues that necessitate changes smoothly as they come up. Be confident and know: This isn’t our first rodeo.
Subject to change. Watch for Updates.

Dutch Specialties
Apple Cake (Dutch Appeltaart)
WINKEL 43: Noordermarkt 43, 1015 NA Amsterdam
Amsterdam’s ever-popular de Jordaan quarter. This is somewhat close to the Anne Frank House.
The crumb in this cake is light, flaky and moist. It is NOT a sweet cake. It's served with whip cream. Get it with Koffie Verkeerd.
They serve meals here too. Small venue with outdoor seating. Be careful where you sit. There’s another cafe next to it.
THE BEST!!
Kroket/Croquet (or Bitterballen)
If you are planning a trip to the Netherlands, there is one gastronomic delicacy you absolutely must try: the famous kroket. This Dutch delicacy is an irresistible croquette made from a combination of finely selected meats and enriched with a creamy roux, meat broth, spices and herbs. It is a carefully prepared mixture that has earned a prominent place in Dutch culinary culture, perfect for those seeking a succulent and quick lunch. Eat it with mustard on white bread! But watch-out, they’re hot when first served. The Dutch version of pizza burn.
Try CAFE PAR HASARD, located in one of Amsterdam's most beautiful neighborhoods on Ceintuurbaan 113-115 1.5 km walk south of the Rijksmuseum.
or
EETSALON VAN DOBBEN near the Flower Market & Rembrandt Square, Korte Reguliersdwarsstraat 5-7-9
French Fries
Vlaams Friteshuis Vleminckx, The Best Friteshuis...
Did you know the Dutch have perfected French Fries to a science, maybe even an art form? The best french Fries can be found in the center of the city at Vlaams Friteshuis Vleminckx near the flower market and behind the main pedestrian shopping street, Kalverstraat 33, Amsterdam. Just Fries!
De Frietfabriek.
and
if you don’t want to travel to the city, here’s one very close to our hotel and training club - it is De Frietfabriek, Nieuwe Kalfjeslaan 1, 1181 CA Amstelveen. Excellent fries and snacks.
Stroopwafel
If not at a bakery fresh, believe it or not, then the best stroopwafel can be found at supermarkets.
Tulip Bulbs
There are two clearly marked kinds of bulbs for sale: those that can be imported to the US, and those that cannot. Some may claim that their bulbs are legal to take to the USA. However, they must have a metal tag that shows up on a scanner.

The Best Cigar Room and Shop (Art Deco Motif)
For aficionados of cigars or those with a family member who appreciates tobacco, a visit to P.G.C. Hajenius is a must. Revered as the 'old master' of Dutch cigar stores since 1826, Hajenius offers an unparalleled selection within the elegant confines of an Art Déco masterpiece on Amsterdam's Rokin. The King and Arnold Schwarzenegger have a humidor here.
Insider tip: upon purchasing a cigar, request a cup of coffee and take advantage of the invitation to relax in their exclusive back lounge for a smoke. It’s a hidden gem.

U.S. passport holders will need to apply for travel authorization before starting their trip -- by online application. For European countries, this is called ETIAS, and for the UK, it is called ETA.
NEW TRAVEL APPLICATION WILL BE REQUIRED BY ALL U.S CITIZENS
--- Although the Netherlands implementation has been delayed, and no start date has been issued yet. (ETIAS)
Do you have a connecting flight through the UK??
--- UK begins its application on January 8, 2025 (ETA)
ETIAS (and ETA) is not a visa but a travel authorization. This authorization is tied to your passport, so upon arrival, passport control can see your approved authorization.
In 2025, Europe (29 Schengen countries, of which the Netherlands is one) will soon require an online "visa" application or an ETIAS. If implementation is not delayed into or past the summer, you will be required, at least 96 hours before departure, to apply for an ETIAS.
WHEN IS ETIAS LAUNCH DATE?
“ETIAS will launch 6 months AFTER EES launch.”. This is now the only official launch statement.
The provisional commencement date for ETIAS remains Q2 2025 (that’s April, May, June). However, it also states that ETIAS will start 6 months after EES begins.
Note: EES: European Entry/Exit System will register non-EU nationals each time they visit European countries. EES does not require an application prior to arrival.
At this time, EES has no start date.
EUROPEAN Entry Authorization: ETA (UK), EES (Europe) and ETIAS (Europe)
Starting in 2025, US and Canadian citizens will be required to apply ahead for entry authorization into most European countries. They are introducing systems with similarly easy-to-meet application processes: Both require only that you fill out a form online and pay a small fee in advance of your trip.
Online information is still somewhat convoluted but available through multiple official and government channels; I found this (below) to be the easiest to read and understand. From Rick Steves:

What Are ETA and ETIAS, Europe’s New Visa-Waiver Programs?
While travelers will soon need to apply online for entry authorization before arrival in Europe, the process requires only a few minutes and a small fee.
Americans, Canadians, and residents of dozens of other countries will soon be required to preregister for entry authorization before they arrive in Europe. While this may sound like a real hassle — no one wants yet another item on their pretrip to-do list — most people will find it easy and quick. You'll submit an online application before your trip, pay a small fee, and be on your way.
TWO SYSTEMS:
The UK and the rest of Europe are launching separate systems on separate timelines: The UK's Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) is required for visitors from the US and Canada (including anyone just transiting through a UK airport) as of January 8, 2025. Apply via the UK ETA app HERE.
Nearly all of the rest of Europe is set to kick off a similar program — the European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS) — sometime in mid-2025.
What are ETA and ETIAS?
The UK's ETA and Europe's ETIAS programs are both measures to improve border-security screening among travelers who don't need a visa to enter these zones. Those travelers include people holding passports from the USA and Canada.
How do ETA and ETIAS work?
Once the requirements kick in, you'll need to submit an online application ahead of your trip and pay a fee of about $10 (£10 for the ETA, and €7 for the ETIAS). Applications must be completed for every traveler, regardless of age. The UK requires a fee for each ETA applicant, but for the ETIAS the fee is waived for those under 18 or above 70 years old. Once approved, you'll be notified that the authorization is now electronically linked to your passport.
Most applications will be reviewed quickly — many within minutes, most within one day, and nearly all within three business days.
But it's still smart to apply at least a month ahead of your visit, just in case questions arise about your application, as this could delay your authorization by several days or weeks.
When does ETA (UK travel and air connections) go into effect?
Travelers with passports from the US, Canada, and most other non-European countries can now apply for an ETA, and will need to show one to enter the UK as of January 8, 2025. (EU passport holders won't need an ETA to enter the UK until April 2, 2025.)
For more information and to apply, see the UK government's ETA page. You may find it easiest to apply via the UK ETA app.
When does ETIAS go into effect (for the Netherlands)?
The EU plans to launch the program in mid-2025. Most travelers should have plenty of time to apply for authorization ahead of the requirement for entry. (And a few months' grace period is planned to follow the launch, during which authorities may waive the requirement for arriving travelers unaware of the new rule.)
You can check the EU's official ETIAS page for the latest HERE
Which countries will require ETIAS registration?
ETIAS registration will be required throughout most of Europe (including Iceland and Cyprus), but not the Republic of Ireland, the United Kingdom (as it requires an ETA instead). Currently there is no application available for the ETIAS. This should be available when an implementation date is announced.
Which countries will require ETA registration for the UK?
An ETA will be required for entry throughout the UK: England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. You'll need an ETA to enter any UK airport from outside the UK, even if you're only there to change flights. (to the Netherlands)
How long do ETA and ETIAS approvals last?
Once you have an ETA, you can use it to enter the UK as many times as you like over a period of two years — or until your passport expires — for stays of up to six months (the UK's short-stay limit).
An ETIAS authorization is good for three years on the same passport — provided you don't exceed the existing Schengen short-stay limit of 90 days out of any 180-day period.
How will this affect European travel in 2025?
Fortunately, ETA and ETIAS are both easily managed formalities — nothing akin to the hassle of getting or renewing a passport. If you're reading this, you've already leaped the only significant hurdle: simply being aware that the requirements are soon to kick in.
It's widely expected that airlines will take the lead in making sure their passengers know about ETA and ETIAS — and are likely to require authorization at check-in.
Each country in Europe is now also setting up its own automated "entry/exit system," though not necessarily all at the same pace. Upon arrival from outside Europe, you may see, in the place of border-guard booths, kiosks for scanning your passport and biometric data (facial image and fingerprints). For a while, however, many entry points will still be staffed by human border officials. But over time, the interminable-feeling lines for passport control that have long frustrated international travelers may become a thing of the past.
Once dates are established and an ETIAS application is available - we will then know what exactly is required to travel to the Netherlands in July 2025. Until then, we can only wait for this information. It is possible this all will not be needed for the Netherlands.
But please stay close to the news of this new entry paperwork.
